Description
Few companies touch as many aspects of everyday living as OMNOVA Solutions. Our stunning and durable commercial wall coverings, upholstery fabrics and laminates provide the finished surfaces for furniture, walls, vehicle seating and a variety of other uses.
Due to growth within OMNOVA, we are presently seeking to hire Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belts for our headquarters in Fairlawn, OH (Akron, Oh area and relocation is offered). We are also seeking lower-level Six Sigma candidates in this same location (Black Belt certification not required)!
As a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, this position provides an individual the opportunity to leverage and strengthen their skills in team facilitation & membership, project management and execution, business & financial acumen, voice of the customer, leadership, communication, negotiation & influencing skills, and change agent behaviors.
The position requires someone to be comfortable on the plant floor and in a meeting with senior management. To be successful an individual needs to be a self-starter with a passion for LEAN Six Sigma, be able to manage several projects/activities at a time, and have urgency as a change agent. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who wants to lead breakthrough improvements across OMNOVA. This assignment will include both domestic and international facility support & travel.
KEY POINTS:
Minimum 3 years full-time assignment as LEAN Six Sigma Master Black Belt reporting to the Director - LEAN Six Sigma.
The ideal candidate is a high-energy proven leader with demonstrated passion to challenge the status quo and drive positive process change.
This individual will be trained in LEAN Six Sigma tools and philosophies and receive certification upon delivering significant bottom-line impact, process improvements, demonstrated broad use of LSS tools, and engaging OMNOVA associates in improvements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate leadership and passion in application of LEAN Six Sigma methods to drive performance excellence and a process improvement culture across OMNOVA.
Lead key improvement projects across multiple sites/functions and complex processes to increase productivity, maximize profitability and improve customer satisfaction (goal is $1M bottom line impact per year)
Establish deployment plans and guide/monitor activities to assure targets are met.
Work with Corporate LEAN Six Sigma and all levels of the organization to support domestic and international facilities in deployment activities and elimination of waste and variation (both manufacturing and transactional).
Work with the leadership teams across the company to utilize and integrate LEAN Six Sigma to enable business goal attainment
Establish strong working relationships to influence and facilitate collaboration across departmental boundaries.
Develop Value Stream Expertise through current state and future state analysis and planning
Translate Voice of Customer into OMNOVA processes, and appropriately leverage LEAN Six Sigma with OMNOVA's customers and suppliers Provide expertise and assist in the integration of LEAN Six Sigma and application of tools (Design of Experiments, Advanced Statistics, Project Management, etc.) across the organization
Develop and conduct training for organization to build capabilities
Mentor and coach Black Belts, Green Belts, and Kaizen Facilitators. Support development and assist in evaluation of Black Belts.
Provide sense of urgency for results through project reviews and metrics. Help remove barriers for Black Belt and Green Belt projects and activities to accelerate results.
Facilitate Kaizen Events leading to rapid improvements
Requirements
Bachelor or Masters Degree (Technical Field preferred)
5-7 + years work experience (at least 3 years process improvement project leadership) -- At least 5+ for the lower Six Sigma roles
LEAN Six Sigma or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification - mastery of process improvement methodologies/ strong statistics background. Must be at least Black Belt. (Black Belt certification NOT required for other lower-level Six Sigma positions)
LEAN application (Kaizen Event Facilitation experience, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)Demonstrated success driving complex projects.
Demonstrated ability to effectively coach process owners, stakeholders, Black Belts, Green Belts, etc.
Strong facilitation and project management skills
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of organization
Ability to create a leadership vision for the future that teams believe in and will follow
Proven ability to effectively lead change and find continuous improvement opportunities
Strong computer skills (Minitab proficiency, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Willing to travel -- domestic and international (50%+) -- Strong preference for those with prior international experience
DESIBRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior LEAN Six Sigma/Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification. Master Black Belt not required.
