Position Overview:
The Store Manager - Sales, in conjunction with the General Manager and other Store Managers, oversees all areas of store operations and is responsible for his/her store's success and achievement of all stated revenue and financial goals. He/she must have a clear, whole-brained understanding of company vision and objectives, and communicate those effectively to the staff. He/she provides consistent leadership, a positive attitude and an unwavering commitment to attention to detail and "everything matters." He/she manages the values and attitudes of the staff, embracing our Foundation Principles and our commitment to breathless communication, in coordination with the General Manager and other Store Managers. The Store Manager - Sales is a Manager first, with a specific focus on the selling efforts in the store. He/she ensures our salespeople are performing at optimal proficiency and are selling complete solutions through Man in the Desert selling. Maintains daily focus on Service=Selling. He/she works in partnership with the General Manager and fellow Store Managers to monitor and evaluate store sales performance, as well as individual employee performance on the salesfloor. This position is a full-time salaried exempt role and reports to the General Manager. The Store Manager - Sales has several direct reports including select full-time and part-time staff members. He/she works closely with fellow Store Managers and partners with them to ensure a whole-brained understanding of the store and the other Managers' focus areas (Visual Sales and Training).

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
Works with General Manager and Store Managers to ensure the development of each employee, focusing on employee needs, goals and aspirations, while keeping the company needs top of mind.
Leads, coaches, trains and manages the values and attitudes of the entire staff. This is accomplished by managing behavior, actions and performance through proper communication and follow-up.
Is responsible for recruiting, hiring, identifying and developing strong leaders and team members who will contribute to our company's growth.
Works with General Managers and Store Managers to manage HR Smart candidate queue and participates in group and one-on-one interviews.
Helps present Foundation Days, POS Philosophy, and any training that covers company philosophy.
Makes sure that direct reports complete all necessary training and assists in determining the amount of additional formalized training needed.
Conducts timely and objective performance reviews for full-time and part-time direct reports.
Takes corrective/disciplinary action when necessary, collaborating with the General Manager and Store Managers on the appropriate conversations, actions, follow-up and documentation.
The Store Manager - Sales is also charged with the following responsibilities:
o Is committed to working scheduled hours (minimum 45 hours per week) and has the flexibility to work weekends and additional hours based on changing business needs. In addition, works as necessary outside of scheduled hours to complete responsibilities of the job.
o Is able to do overnight travel to regional meetings (approximately 3 times per year), yearly Staff Meetings, and other travel as needed.
o Actively manages the salesfloor a minimum of 25-30 hours per week.
o Schedules off the floor planning and meeting time depending on the needs of the business, always remaining aware of unexpected needs of the business on the sales floor.
o Serves as the customer advocate, constantly evaluating the customers' needs and managing and educating the staff as to how to best fulfill those needs.
o Provides support to the Store Manager - Visual Sales with all visual aspects of the store, maintaining its clean, organized appearance and understanding its reflection of The Our Store brand. Helps the sales team understand the importance of their role in maintaining the store.
o Partners with the Store Manager - Training to make sure appropriate training is scheduled and is implemented, evaluating the effectiveness of the training and identifying additional training needs of the staff. Follows up with the staff to ensure training is being put into action.
o Meets weekly with General Manager and other Store Managers to maintain high levels of open communication. These meetings will be in addition to necessary planning meetings.
o Makes sure all store sales goals are understood by management team and the staff. This includes goals for sales, elfa, average ticket, conversion rate and any other seasonal sales goals.
o Consistently reinforces the Sales Trainer's efforts by evaluating and coaching the staff in Man in the Desert selling skills.
o Supports and encourages constant sharing of communication (i.e. salesfloor successes and challenges, training opportunities, daily goals, product and company information) and encourages the staff to seek out information using their available resources.
o Stays current and evaluates all company and store-specific reporting and applies that knowledge to driving sales and affecting positive change in the store.
o Checks voicemail and email at least two times per day and ensures staff is also committed to timely communication.
o Works with the General Manager and other Store Managers to create daily schedules.
o In collaboration with other Store Managers, determines the staff's rate of pay and hours of work, and adjusts both accordingly when needed, always mindful of the store's payroll expense plan.
o Is current and knowledgeable of all store procedures.
o Provides support to the General Manager in maintaining a safe environment for employees and customers. Ensures timely reporting and follow-up, as required.
o Monitors and ensures the store is compliant in all legal matters and communicates any needs or concerns to the appropriate parties.
